II Corinthians 6:14 - "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?"
Hebrews 10: 24-25 - "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more as ye see the day approaching."
New members are amazed at the number of opportunities for the membership to partake in delicious meals in the lovely Fellowship Hall with a well equipped kitchen.
Whether it is a “Spaghetti” or “Loaded Potato” meal promoted by the WMU to raise money for missions, or Pastor's Day, or Homecoming, or a Sunday School class event, or numerous other "excuses" to get together, one can always be assured there will be plenty of wonderful home-cooked covered dishes, beverages, and a multitude of desserts. All of the desserts are delicious, but three of the favorites that disappear quickly are a homemade banana pudding, a homemade red velvet pound cake, and blackberry cobbler. The best part of these gatherings, however, is the wonderful conversation and fellowship with one another, as well as the zealous cooperation of everyone to clean up and be participants in whatever needs to be done.
In March 2012, a church bus was purchased that seats 24 passengers and is used for various ministries and activities.......including senior adult outings. Two recent fun-filled trips were to the Dillard House in Dillard, Georgia and to Farmer's Daughter Restaurant in Chuncky, Tennessee. Yes.....they were trips to restaurants for good food, which everyone knows is important to most Baptists, and particularly to the ones that attend Barberville Baptist Church. Shopping trips are also popular, especially with the senior citizens. Of course, the bus is also used to transport members to church conventions and several other church activities and ministries.
Prayer is Important at Barberville Baptist Church
Philippians 4:6 - "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Prayer Requests: Each week, a form is provided in the bulletin for the congregation to write down special prayer requests. These forms are reviewed by Pastor Estep each week, and contact is made with those who may have questions or needs. A printed Prayer List is placed in the bulletin on a regular basis to facilitate the congregation to pray during the week for those on the list.
Prayer Rooms: The church has a Prayer Room to accommodate privacy and time alone for prayer and meditation. The latest Prayer Room in the Educational Building has an outside entrance door which can be easily accessed by members of the church.
Prayer Warriors: Several ladies, referred to as "Prayer Warriors," have organized into groups. Just one phone call from any person with an urgent prayer request can lead to more than 20 sincere people praying for that specified need in a matter of minutes. Also, every prayer request is submitted to Almighty God by members who meet in the Prayer Room weekly to pray for the needs of those on the list.
A Library is Available at Barberville Baptist Church
Members are urged to visit and take advantage of the the church library, which was recently reorganized and well stocked. Books may be placed in the library in "honor" or in "memory" of someone.
